Training Log: 5/17/16-5/24/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMay 25, 2016Leave a comment

Week 2   Max Effort Lower   Sumo work today, and I’ve only played around with doing sumo stance maybe three times total before, so this was… interesting. I struggled trying to pull the bar backwards, as my first motion was generally to move the bar up and out, especially in my supinated…

Training Log: 5/9/16-5/16/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMay 16, 2016Leave a comment

Week 1   I’m back, baby! After over a month of strict volume work with very little heavy lifting, and zero bench or deadlift work (I did some box squat work), I am very excited to be back and get under some real weight. This training block I am focusing on front squats and…

Volume training recap, Seminar with Dave Tate

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMay 9, 2016Leave a comment

This is my first log entry in a while, my entire last training block actually. I thought about updating a few weeks in, but at that point I figured I might as well just do a recap at the end, and I’ll explain why when I get to the recap.   First, let’s talk…

Training Log: 3/26/16-3/30/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaApril 6, 2016Leave a comment

Week 6 Pretty late in writing this, busy with work last week and forgot to stay on top of the log. This was the last week on this training block, big deadlift day and last close grip heavy day. A much needed deload after and then I’m switching to some high volume work for…

Training Log: 3/18/16-3/24/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 25, 2016Leave a comment

Week 5   I’m nearing the end of the current training block, and these next two weeks have me attempting to beat previous 3RM PRs or attempting a 1RM PR, which is exciting as I get to see the payoff from the work I put in. Looking back on the week, I am very…

Training Log: 3/11/16-3/17/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 21, 2016Leave a comment

Week 4 This week went about as smooth as possible, no outside issues, and no lifting/body issues. Another good week in the books. Tied an all-time 3RM PR of 495, except that this time I got it incredibly easily. Feeling very good about where my deadlift is at, despite feeling like it has taken…

Backlog Catch-up

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 10, 2016Leave a comment

Here is a “quick” chronicle of the current block I am on, as well as a brief background to catch up to my current training:   I graduated from Purdue University this past December (2015), and my final semester went… less-than-stellar as far as training goes (best semester I had, academically!). 18 hour days…

Brief Introduction

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 10, 2016Leave a comment

Stealing Josh’s idea, here is a quick introduction on myself:   My name is Anthony Fontana, and I am a recent Purdue graduate. While I will not call myself a founding member (as I did none of the work), I am proud to say I am an original member of Purdue Barbell, back when it…
