Volume training recap, Seminar with Dave Tate

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMay 9, 2016Leave a comment

This is my first log entry in a while, my entire last training block actually. I thought about updating a few weeks in, but at that point I figured I might as well just do a recap at the end, and I’ll explain why when I get to the recap.   First, let’s talk…

Week 2 – Max Effort Block Pulls

Josh Lytle, Training LogBy Josh LytleMay 5, 2016Leave a comment

I am moved back home for the summer and back to training at the local gym. I was hoping to get my first day of this training week in yesterday but after moving out, driving home, and then moving in, it was not in the cards. I am happy that I made this call though…

Balancing Training and Final Exams

Josh Lytle, Powerlifting, Training LogBy Josh LytleMay 2, 2016Leave a comment

Stress is the name of the game at the moment as I work my way through the thick of finals week for this semester here at Purdue. To be honest, getting in the gym and training has been, and always will be, my go to when I am going through a period of high stress.…

Week 1, Day 1 – Max Effort Lower – Offseason Begins!

Josh Lytle, Training LogBy Josh LytleApril 25, 2016Leave a comment

I’m back at it! After a very long deload week I am officially back into offseason powerlifting training. I missed posting about the last two training sessions before the week started due to a full schedule which even involved a trip to the Elitefts S4 Compound with Purdue Barbell for a seminar with Dave “Under…

Training Log: 3/26/16-3/30/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaApril 6, 2016Leave a comment

Week 6 Pretty late in writing this, busy with work last week and forgot to stay on top of the log. This was the last week on this training block, big deadlift day and last close grip heavy day. A much needed deload after and then I’m switching to some high volume work for…

Volume Legs – Week 5 of 6

Josh Lytle, Training LogBy Josh LytleApril 5, 2016Leave a comment

Five leg days down and one more to go during the final bit of this program. Today felt a hundred times better than the last leg day that I endured but I am still wiped by it. Brandon is really good about pushing the volume almost to the edge but then giving you just enough…

Volume Legs With Some Adjustments Being Made

Josh Lytle, Training LogBy Josh LytleMarch 28, 2016Leave a comment

I am very behind on posting about this training session but Easter weekend ended up redirecting my focus toward family and friends. None the less, I would hate to disappoint anyone further so here it is! Leg day this week was truly a struggle and humbling to some extent. To be honest, I let myself…

Training Log: 3/18/16-3/24/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 25, 2016Leave a comment

Week 5   I’m nearing the end of the current training block, and these next two weeks have me attempting to beat previous 3RM PRs or attempting a 1RM PR, which is exciting as I get to see the payoff from the work I put in. Looking back on the week, I am very…

Back Volume Training

Josh Lytle, Training LogBy Josh LytleMarch 23, 2016Leave a comment

Training seemed rather short today but I am finally starting to sprout a pair of lats I believe. My back has always been something that I have to work rather hard to build up compared to my chest or legs. Having a day of training dedicated to this muscle group is definitely a nice change as…

Training Log: 3/11/16-3/17/16

Anthony Fontana, Training LogBy Anthony FontanaMarch 21, 2016Leave a comment

Week 4 This week went about as smooth as possible, no outside issues, and no lifting/body issues. Another good week in the books. Tied an all-time 3RM PR of 495, except that this time I got it incredibly easily. Feeling very good about where my deadlift is at, despite feeling like it has taken…
