Five leg days down and one more to go during the final bit of this program. Today felt a hundred times better than the last leg day that I endured but I am still wiped by it. Brandon is really good about pushing the volume almost to the edge but then giving you just enough leeway to continue on without failing. I will say that these leg days have made me get sick from training for the first time in a long time. I guess I am just going to have to carry a bucket around with me next week. Training broke down like this…
- Stretch and Warm-Up
- Leg Curls
- Two Warm Up Sets (100 lbs)
- 130×10, 150×10, 160×10
- Two Drop Sets (140, 110, 80, 50)
- Safety Squat Bar Box Squats
- 245×8, 265×8, 295×8, 315×8
- Hack Squat – 3×12
- Close Stance Leg Press
- 570×10 + 10 Partials, 620×10 + 10 Partials, 660×10 + 10 Partials
- Stiff Leg Deadlift
- 185×10, 205×10, 225×10
- Weighted Sit Ups – 4×10
I went pretty light on the stiff leg deadlifts today (I’ve hit 315×12 before) because Brandon specifically wrote into the program that I was supposed to hit a good stretch on them. That, along with the fact that I was shaking from SSB squats and leg press, told me to back it down, feel my hammies get stretched out, and focus on using my posterior chain to snap the weight back up. Additionally, I performed these in a sumo stance for the first time. I about took a nose dive during the first set as sumo takes away some of my balancing ability but after getting used to it I really liked the way it hit my hips and glutes.I plan to continue switching up my stances and technique on the deadlift moving forward to make sure I stay balanced and work my body different ways. Chest will be next up on Tuesday and then I’ll be getting dangerously close to wrapping up this training cycle. Until next time!
