About
THIRST was originally founded by Brandon and Adrian Smitley to help improve the health, fitness, and athletic performance of the greater Wabash Valley community. Together they have acquired scientific and practical knowledge in the fitness industry, and look to apply them to help the community.
The history of THIRST was a project started by Brandon in 2012 when he returned back to Terre Haute to work on his graduate coursework at Indiana State University. As a high level athlete and powerlifter all his life and growing up in the Terre Haute community, he realized the lack of a facility where athletes and community members could go to achieve their desired results. Slowly over the course of five years, Brandon built up a garage gym to facilitate his needs as a competitive powerlifter. Over that time, his garage gym grew in strength and numbers as people of the community slowly drifted towards his success in the fitness community, worldwide. Brandon later met his wife, Adrian, whom was also highly active in running and training. Together, they brought a unique combination of knowledge and experience to create what is now THIRST.
Training Philosophy
The training philosophy at THIRST is to use functional based movement patterns, with a combination of science and applied knowledge to yield real-world results. At THIRST, we know that strength training is a highly complicated (and sometimes intimidating) aspect of fitness. However, we also know that training with functional based movement patterns and proper technique, application, and coaching will yield the best results no matter your goals. We believe that inside everyone is an athlete based desire to move and function at your best, so that you can look and feel your best.
Mission
Our mission at THIRST is to provide world class coaching via functional based movement patterns, to help the greater Wabash Valley community improve their health, fitness, performance, and lifestyle.

Extended Access Membership – Our extended access membership is designed for those that want consistent access to our facility, even during non-staffed hours. You can learn more about our extended access membership here.
Adult Fitness – Our Adult Fitness Program is a truly unique service that only we offer. This program has no time restrictions, attendance restrictions, and every person can benefit in some sort or fashion.
Each day we provide a daily workout, with you in mind. This workout is laid out each day, from what you should do for your warm up, strength training, conditioning and cardio, as well as coaches that are going to help ensure you’re doing the exercises correctly and to work around any nagging injuries you may have. The training is provided via our coaching app, with videos of how to do every exercises in case you need to workout while traveling or during non-business hours. However, you will receive a customized program specifically for you. You will be able to schedule your session for any business hours and perform your personal training session, with a coach to help you along the way. This provides you with the most tailored fitness option available, but at a convenience to you. Learn more about how THIRST can help you here.
Sports Performance Training – If you have a youth athlete in your family, this program is designed to help your child perform at their best on the field/court. Our sports performance training aims to teach your child how to properly move, run, sprint, jump, lift weights, and most of all prevent injury. We know that children benefit the most on the field from real strength training and improving their performance in the weight room. Our goal is to help your child perform at their best while staying injury free. All our sports performance training is individualized for your child, to help them specifically for their sport or activity of choice. Let us show you how we can help your child run faster and jump higher through proper sports performance training. Learn more about THIRST sports performance training here.
